Chiaki Nakajima

Designer


Chiaki is an urban designer with an international and interdisciplinary background.
Her interests include mixed-use development with transit and interrelationships between public and private space.

At Calthorpe Associates, Chiaki has been involved in a wide range of projects from detailed site design for small mixed-use developments to large-scale master plans.

She has worked on the following projects:

Chiaki received her Master of Architecture degree from Kobe University in Japan. As part of her master's program, she completed a one year visiting graduate program at the University of Washington's College of Architecture and Urban planning. While studying there, she participated in a collaborative urban space design charrette between the University of Washington and Kobe University to address the concerns and future of Nagata, Kobe where the 1995 Hanshin-Awaji earthquake badly damaged its structures. Their work was later awarded 2006 WASLA Student Honor Award. Chiaki received her Bachelors degree in Architecture from Kobe University.
