Greg Gurren

Designer


Greg Gurren is an urban designer and planner with experience in transit-oriented development, mixed-use community design, transportation planning, and form-based coding.  Following an internship with Calthorpe Associates in 2006, Greg completed his degree and joined the firm as a Designer in March of 2008.  His interests include sustainable development, historic urbanism, classical and vernacular architecture, quality affordable housing, revitalization, and transportation choice.  Past and current projects with which Greg has been involved include:

  • Stapleton Redevelopment Plan, Denver, CO - The nation's largest redevelopment project, the former Stapleton International Airport covers 4,700 acres within the City of Denver.  Commercial, employment, civic and residential uses will all be linked by walkable streets and a continuous, site-wide armature of open space, including a restored prairie park.   • Lakeline Station Transit Oriented District, Austin, TX  - The first TOD in Austin, Lakeline Station consists of nearly 3,000 units on more than 300 acres.
  • Navy Southeast Regional Housing Privatization, Southeastern United States – A proposal for privatizing and improving the quality of Navy communities throughout the southeast region of the United States

Greg received his Bachelor of Urban Planning degree from the University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning.  Prior to joining Calthorpe Associates, Greg worked as an intern with Duany, Plater-Zyberk and Company in Gaithersburg, Maryland and Edwards & Kelcey in Cincinnati, Ohio.  A member of the American Planning Association and Congress for the New Urbanism, he is currently pursuing both AICP and LEED certification.
