Mitali has been working as a Designer at Calthorpe since August 2005. With over six years of experience in architecture, urban design and real estate, Mitali believes in urban design that enriches its cultural context and is responsive to market forces. She enjoys working on projects that involve urban infill and revitalization, supported by transit and mixed use. Her interests also include affordable housing, green development and adaptive reuse.

At Calthorpe, Mitali has been involved in the following projects:

  • Port Rashid Masterplan, Dubai, UAE
  • Unitech Township, Gurgaon, India
  • Al Uqair Master Plan, Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia
  • Karachi Waterfront, Karachi, Pakistan

Prior to Calthorpe, Mitali worked for a year at Gensler, San Francisco on master planning and urban mixed use projects in China and the US. Her experience outside the US includes two years as an architect in Singapore, and three years of architecture and urban design in India.

Mitali's academic background consists of a Bachelors degree in Architecture and a Masters degree in Urban Design, both from the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi, India. She graduated (with distinction) from the Harvard Graduate School of Design with a Masters degree in Urban Development and Real Estate.

At the GSD, Mitali participated in the ULI Gerald D Hines UD Competition and her team's entry received an "Honorable Mention". Her term paper "New Towns in the US" was published online by the Real Estate Academic Initiative at Harvard. She received a national scholarship (G.A.T.E) for her Urban Design Masters degree and has presented papers at the School of Planning and Architecture and the Delhi Urban Arts Commission.

Mitali is a member of the Indian Council of Architecture and supports SPUR and Habitat for Humanity.
