Kate Blacquiere
Senior Designer
Kate Blacquiere is an urban designer with experience in land use planning and public design workshops. Her work at Calthorpe Associates entails mixed-use and transit-oriented community design plans including large scale master plans, downtown revitalization strategies, retail developments, infill sites, and streetscapes. She has been with Calthorpe Associates since 2006.
At Calthorpe Associates, Kate has worked on a variety of projects, including:
- Langstaff Gateway (Markham, Canada)
- Fresno Southeast Growth Area Specific Plan (Fresno, California)
- Stapleton (Denver, Colorado)
- Daybreak (South Jordan, Utah)
Prior to joining Calthorpe Associates, Kate worked at the Warren Conner Development Coalition in Detroit, Michigan where she helped manage the Mack Avenue Commercial Corridor Improvement Program, in addition to a Neighborhood Beautification Program. Kate also worked at Diné College in Navajo Nation, Tsaile, Arizona. She conducted feasibility and planning studies to assess the community’s readiness for creation of new health, education, and social services.
Kate received her Bachelors degree in Math and Art from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and her Masters in Urban Planning and Masters in Urban Design degrees from the University of Michigan Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She also had the opportunity to study urban design in Glasgow, Scotland for a semester at Strathclyde University.
