Mitali Ganguly
Project Coordinator
Mitali has been working at Calthorpe Associates since August 2006. With over eight years of experience in architecture, urban design and real estate, Mitali believes urban design should be an advocate for meaningful social change while negotiating market forces. Her interests include affordable housing and urban revitalization supported by transit and mixed use. She brings to Calthorpe a diverse set of skills and varied work experience in different countries.
At Calthorpe Associates, Mitali has been working on international master-planning and transit-oriented projects, ranging from regional plans to neighborhood design. She has been actively involved in local and international design workshops. Her projects include:
- Amman Urban Strip (Amman, Jordan)
- Arabian Canal (Dubai, UAE)
- Domodedovo Regional Plan (Domodedovo, Russia)
- Xiaomaidao (Qingdao, China)
- Karachi Waterfront (Karachi, Pakistan)
Prior to Calthorpe Associates, Mitali worked for a year at a global architectural firm in San Francisco on urban mixed use projects in China and the US. Her work experience outside the US includes two years as an architect in Singapore, and three years of architecture and urban design in India. She has been a guest critic at urban design studios at the University of California (Berkeley), Stanford University and the School of Planning and Architecture (S.P.A), India.
Mitali's academic background consists of a Bachelors degree in Architecture and a Masters degree in Urban Design, both from S.P.A, India. She graduated from the Harvard Graduate School of Design with a Masters degree in Urban Development and Real Estate. At the GSD, Mitali participated in the ULI Gerald D Hines UD Competition, receiving an "Honorable Mention". Her term paper "New Towns in the US" was published online by the Real Estate Academic Initiative at Harvard. She received a national scholarship (G.A.T.E) for her Urban Design Masters degree and has presented papers at S.P.A and the Delhi Urban Arts Commission.
Mitali is a member of the Institute of Urban Designers of India and the Indian Council of Architecture.
