Zhuojian (Nelson) Peng
Technical Writer/ Designer
Zhuojian (Nelson) Peng is passionate about infusing New Urbanism principles into the practice of urban design in China. With an education in urban planning and proficiency in translating technical documents, Nelson helps to facilitate Calthorpe projects in China. He is currently working on the New Town plan for Chenggong, China.
Prior to Calthorpe, Nelson interned with the Pennsylvania Downtown Center, where he designed and constructed a community garden in Johnstown, PA. He also worked on the application project in Danxia Geo-Park for two years, which was accepted as World Natural Heritage site by UNESCO in 2010. During college, he was a part-time translator for Schneider Electrics for a construction project in Guangzhou for more than a year. Nelson competed internationally in urban design and landscape competitions, gaining an Honorable Mention in “Build a Better Burb” in New York, U.S., and “Solar Park South” in Calabria, Italy.
Nelson completed his Masters degree in Urban Planning along with a Certificate in Urban Design from the University of Pennsylvania. He also holds a Bachelors Degree in Urban Planning from the Sun Yat-Sen University (Guangzhou, China), graduating with Honors.
