Calthorpe Associates (in collaboration with Roma Design Group) developed the Master Plan for the New Town of Zhanggui Zhang. A central greenway forms the spine on which the community is organized; connecting all the districts, villages and employment zones to the Town Center. Six mixed-use residential villages are arranged around the Town Center, each with a civic core comprising of an elementary school, local-serving retail and a park; that provides a focal point for local gatherings.
Zhanggui Zhang New Town supports a diverse system of transportation, extending and enriching the network of surrounding roadways, providing efficient transit service and establishing a pattern and mix of development that is highly supportive of pedestrian and bicycle movement. A community shuttle links all of the villages and activity centers of the town and a comprehensive system of pedestrian and bicycle pathways laces through the greenways of the community.
