St. Andrews Wins Awards

UDIA Australia (March 2013)

The first phase of the St. Andrews master plan in Western Australia, the coastal village Capricorn Yanchep by Capricorn Village Joint Venture, has just received the prestigious National Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) 2013 award for best overall residential development in Australia. In granting the award, the judges wrote:

"Capricorn is a masterplanned residential community located adjacent to the coast near the longstanding seaside community of Yanchep. The development is distinctive for its sensitive addressing of a difficult undulating terrain, its use of design guidelines to encourage a built form evocative of a coastal village and its strong environmental sensitivity, incorporating ennergy efficiency and water-wise design. The use of vegetated swales rather than kerb and gutter was extremely well executed, as was the transplanting of mature trees and the establishment of a pedestrian network through the site to the beach, incorporating boardwalks that sit above the dunes."

Additionally, the Capricorn coastal village of St. Andrews won the 2012 UDIA (Western Australia Division) President's Award for best overall residential development.
