Greenbelt Alliance (March 2011)

MARCH 9, 2011: Silicon Valley Community Foundation today launched a new project that will help Bay Area residents understand how land use and transportation decisions will shape future growth and give them a say in the development of their communities. YouChoose Bay Area, which was launched today, allows residents to make decisions, choose different growth options and see the future consequences of those decisions. YouChoose Bay Area translates complicated planning concepts into user-friendly images that demonstrate the links between growth and the things many residents care deeply about, such as preserving open space, reducing energy use and promoting public health. The site can be found at The Envision Bay Area regional scenarios were produced using the Rapid Fire scenario modeling tool developed by Bay Area planning and design firm HDR | Calthorpe. Please see the Rapid Fire Model Technical Summary for more information on the model.
